Te Kohinga Taoka Māori

Collection Record

Adze, Toki

Complete adze. Dark grey stone. Trapezoidal cross-section with the back narrower than the front. The surface is mostly bruised with smooth areas at each end. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade, but the front and back of the butt taper in to meet at a curved blunt edge. The bevel is sharply angled and demarcated from the blade by a curved ridge, and has a straight cutting edge.
