Waka huia
Complete waka huia made from totara. Dark brown in colour. Shape is lenticular; round in cross section. There is a human head figure at each end for suspension, one of which has broken off below the eyes. The exteriors of both the box and lid are carved with a rauru (double spiral) at the centre and diagonal rauponga (ridges and triangular notches) running from the centre line to the edge. The interior sides of both are smooth and undecorated.
