Model
Complete model of a round house. Thatching is tied to support sticks with a moxture of threads. Support structure is a miture of two types of sticks. Proper left side of the house has an entryway. The front of the model has no thatching to allow veiwing of the inside of the house. Two notes accompany the model. One is an information display note reading "Model of a round house. Such as was used in recent years on the Mutton Bird Islands, and in Pre-European Otago. The thatch was not cut regularly as is done in the model. Made & Pres. by J. Lee". The other note is handwritten and reads "Model. Round Hut. Pre European. Made & Pres J Lee".
