Adze, Toki

Large complete adze. Dark grey stone. The cross-section is quadrangular. The surface is flaked on the back and sides, and ground on the front. There is bruising on the front of the butt and on the back of the blade. There is major distinction between the butt and the blade, with an irregular ridge and reduction in the stone on the front. The bevel and the blade are differentiated by an irregular ridge. The cutting edge is slightly curved and sharp with some chips.
