Adze, Toki

Complete unfinished adze. Quadrangular cross-section. The surface is flaked with a small ground area on the bevel. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The sides of the butt taper in towards the poll. The front of the blade is slightly concave. The bevel is roughly indicated by an area demarcated by a scar ridge. The cutting edge is straight and chipped. There is a piece of paper adhere to the front of the blade that reads "John White Collection". The front of the blade has brownish spots on the stone.
