Adze, Toki

Complete adze. The cross section at the bevel is trapezoidal with the back narrower than the front. The cross section at the shoulder is lenticular. The cross section of the butt is circular. The surface of the lower half (bevel end) is predominantly ground. The surface of the sides, and the upper half (poll end) are predominantly bruised. There is a small rectangular piece of paper with writing adhered to the back. There are remnants of adhered paper on the back of the butt. There is a dark, circular stain in the centre of the back.
