Collection Record

Adze, Toki

Complete unfinished adze. Brown stone. Oval cross-section. The surface is mostly ground, with bruising on the sides and flaking on the poll and the the front lower blade. There is a shallow indentation in the stone on the proper right which might indicate the base of the butt. Otherwise there is no differentiation between the butt and the blade. The bevel is demarcated by an asymmetrical curved line. The cutting edge is sharp and asymmetrical with a large chip on the proper right.
