Adze, Toki

Complete adze. Quadrangular cross-section. The surface is mostly ground on the blade with bruising on the butt and some flake scars. There is a defined shoulder on the front of the blade with a reduction in the front and sides of the butt and a line of bruising. The bevel is slightly concave and is clearly demarcated by a curved ridge. The cutting edge has large flake scars. There is a piece of paper adhered to the back of the blade that reads: "Otago Museum/ Coal CReek Station/ Presented by Mr L Moore"
