Indeed a pity the museum has no money or means of getting any as we have a large amount of valuable material locked away. The city pays a small amount but this goes mainly on the library. The committee pays a sum for me to run the library and look after the mineral collection, but we need a full time curator. The Carnegie exchange should reach you soon. If you make a report would like a copy as it may help our case for funding. further details adjustment to the exhibition. Regards to Miss Duff.

Letter, 13/06/1938, Mr C B Brereton, Nelson Institute and Museum to H D Skinner, Lately the City Council made a long excavation in the street of Mr Joseph Taylor of 36 Cambria St, Nelson. Taylor collected about 20 specimens of Moa bones, other birds and wood at the depth of about 12 feet. "He reckons he has very early bird bones from when birds had teeth." Sketch of jaw showing some teeth intact and tooth sockets. Please advise if you can investigate.
