Letter, 23/11/1936, W. Elvey, Lands Dept. Blenheim to H D Skinner, Thanks Skinner for photo of fish hooks. Discusses enquiries about findings of artefacts in the Kaikoura area. In particular mentions a bone artefact in the shape of a fish belonging to Mrs Beaton descendant of Kaikoura Whakatau. Mentions the Omihi pa site. Also mentions a sandstone tribal god near the mouth of the Clarence River. Writes about "tribal treasures" of Hinetahi. (?)

Letter, 12/02/1937, W. Elvey, Lands Dept. Blenheim to H D Skinner, Encloses a drawing of an amulet found at Aniseed Creek, north of Kaikoura. Public Works Department workers found the amulet below the old pa Rakautara. Elvey reports that it is now 'in the care of' the Dominion Museum.
