letter, 21/08/1935, W. A. Ferry, Kaikoura to H D Skinner, Has purchased comb from boy at Clarence Bridge. Also found a bone spear.

letter, no date , H D Skinner to, Receipt statement to be signed for money received for materials listed. Includes 1 stone adze and 2 bone points.

letter, 12/06/1935, T W Downes (Wanganui River Trust Domain Board) to H D Skinner, Personal correspondence thanking Skinner for his involvement with Downes' trip touring museums which he had just returned from at the time of writing. Downes identifies Otago Museum as 'a revelation […] especially in the matter of danification(?)', and recounts having talked to figures at 'The Museum' in Christchurch and The Wellington Museum during his trip. Downes also requests illustration numbers from his book and papers starting with the letter A so he can get prints.

letter, 08/08/1935, W.A. Ferry, Kaikoura to H.D. Skinner, Comb enclosed on behalf of a boy from above Clarence, please value it and make an offer to him

letter, 27/07/1935, W.A. Ferry, Kaikoura to H.D. Skinner, Apologies for late reply, Pat Curran is interested in Skinner's book and offers to drive Skinner around and show him places of interest when he visits Kaikoura. Adzes and bone spear points have been found while digging a water pipe. Maori workmen claim the artefacts are theirs as they were not paid for the land. (Amendment added to the letter 5/8/35, including a page of annotated drawings of the adzes): 2 adzes and a tattooing tool have since been found, offers to send them to Skinner or wait until he visits.

letter, 28/07/1935, H.D Skinner to W.A. Ferry, Pieces found by the boy are of no value but a half-crown enclosed for him anyway. Mentions the amulet paper. Skinner is thinking of visiting Kaikoura in September.

letter, 26/06/1935, W.A. Ferry, Kaikoura to H.D. Skinner, Apologies for late reply, Ferry has been waiting on the boy, who has agreed to part with a burnt bone piece if Ferry repaired his watch. He has also found a skeleton and a carved rock too heavy to lift. Skinner's book is interesting - Ralph Parson has said his amulet is similar to one in the book. Pat Curran will send Skinner bone pieces from his collection if he writes to him. Ferry will show Curran the book too.

letter, 12/06/1935, H.D. Skinner to W.A. Ferry, Series of Skinner's papers from Journal of the Polynesian Society on amulets/pendants enclosed. Ralph Parson's pendant is like fig. 126, Skinner wants to include it in upcoming publication. Skinner would like to buy the burnt bone piece from the boy.

Burnt bone piece found by the boy is a small damaged harpoon point, already have a number but none from Kaikoura so an offer is made. Mentions interest in visiting fortifications at Hapuku.
