letter, 14/11/1934, Dr. Benham to Goodrich, The Q.J has published various papers in the past on the Circulatory System of earthworms. Sending you the MS and figures done by one of the demonstrators, M.C. Bleakly. Hopes he can find a place in the journal for it. It forms the anatomical part of a thesis for which J. P. Hill of U.C.L awarded Bleakly first class honours, most of it being of a physiological character, dealing with the enzymes secreted by the gut. In this paper he has a variety of experimental methods established by the course taken by the blood in the anterior region of the body, a matter discussed by various authors. The figures are drained for reduction to half and he has arrange them in front of plates, if he had consulted before so, I should have told him to draw them as independent pieces. It'd be gratifying for Benham if he can find space for it. Trust health is good, Benham's is excellent. Has deserted the Annelids for the present and have taken to the study of our New Zealand extinct cetacean of which nothing has been done. Recently published a short paper on an unusually complete skeleton of a moa. Suppose that all things have been said about these birds but as matter of fact the nomenclature of the species is in a hopeless condition. Will send a copy. Old man is still at work, it is 51 years since Benham's first article was published in the Linnaean Society, the same year as Richard Owen's XX! A link with the past. Regards to Mrs Goodrich.
