letter, 25/11/1936, H D Skinner to Carl Schuster, Peiping, China, Piece 17354 is Maori, possibly modern fake kaka poria or leg ring for a trained parrot. Headless man from Indonesia is significant. We have a large collection of breast ornaments from Bougainville. Possible connection between ancient Chinese and Oceanic decorative art especially Easter Island script. Bird man carving in New Zealand and Massim, Solomons and Easter Island. Man's soul passes into bird after death. Man's face with tusks not uncommon in New Zealand carving, as in Indian, Indonesian and Chinese art.
