I sent this morning a box of our stone implements, including an amulet at least 1,000 years old and a couple jewels. Are there no arrow-heads in New Zealand? I would like arrow-heads and amulets. Thank you for sending stone implements; I haven't received them yet. When I return to Tokyo I will send you more celts and a few amulets. I haven't acquired any bone or shell fish hooks. There is no up-to-date English books on Japanese archaeology, but a few written years ago.

letter, 11/03/1934, David Teviotdale to H D Skinner, I arrived in Orepuki to find Sorenson leaving. Some notes on his family and his collection. Mentions future plan to excavate cave at Port Craig. Staying at Masonic Hotel, like the town, it's seen better days. Visited King. Found a fair amount of broken and unfinished tools in a hut. Outlines after items found. Also went to the small gully at Wakapatu and found two moa skeletons and other bones. Experienced a small earthquake.
