Fragment of flute. There are no perforations. The surface of the fragment is covered by darkened striations in a cross-hatched pattern.
Taoka Māori
Complete toggle, manufactured from a bone flute. There are two perforations along the top of the toggle and one perforation on either side. There are darkened striations on the toggle going in a several directions that appear to be darkened.
Broken toggle, one end remaining. There is a single perforation. There is a large crack on the underside of the toggle. The surface is decorated with striations in an arrow pattern, with points on each side facing the perforation. The remaining end has short horizontal striations around the opening.
Broken toggle, missing a large fragment from one end. There is a large crack that runs along the top of the toggle, through the two perforations. Another crack runs most of the length down one side. The perforations are very close together. At either end the opening of the bone is lightly scored.
Complete toggle. This toggle is finished at both ends. There is one perforation in the centre, and one partial perforation at the end. This partial perforation indicates this was recut from a flute to a toggle. There is longitudinal crack near the perforations.
Broken toggle, there is a chip missing from one end. Aside from the chip, both ends are finished. There is a perforation in the centre. The bone is burned.
Complete toggle, small fragment missing from one end. There is a crack running the length of the toggle. There are no perforations. There are several vertical striations on the unchipped side.
Complete toggle. Finished at both ends. No perforations.
Complete toggle, made from a small curved piece of bone. There is single, large perforation in the centre. There are two striations in a "X" pattern on the side.
Complete toggle. There is one perforation through the centre of the toggle, and one partial perforation on the edge. There are three short, vertical striations on the side opposite to the perforations.
Broken toggle, there is large longitudinal fragment missing along the back. There is a single perforation.
Toggle or flute in process of manufacture. Length of bone cut and finished at both ends. There are no perforations.
