Waka huia without a lid. Made from kapuka wood; dark brown in colour. Rectangular in shape and in cross section; slightly rounded on the bottom. Simple grooved knobs on each end, one of which has a perforation for a suspension cord. Exterior is carved in a rauru (double spiral) pattern, with three on the bottom and four on each side. Interior is smooth and undecorated.

Fire plate, and fire stick. The fire plate is a flat wooden slab made of light coloured wood. Deep grooved in centre of plate with burn marks at one end. Burn marks in three places on side edges - two on right side U shaped indentation Polished on intact portions both edges. The fire stick is a rounded with blackened point with broken proximal end.
