Letter, 08/10/1919, J. Allan Thomson to Dr W B Benham, Regarding large collection of many species of New Zealand beetles amassed by the late Major T. Broun, through the assistance of many New Zealand entomologists. Discusses issue of Broun's direction that the collection be sent to the British Museum and that this would be a great loss for New Zealand. Quotes Clause 2 of the Maori Antiquities Act 1908, to address matter of export of specimens to other countries and notes public money spent. Recommends that application for permit to send collection overseas be declined. Includes small note suggesting that Benham also writes to seek support of the Minister for Internal Affairs regarding this important collection.
