Letter, 01/02/1939, Stephen Savage, Raratonga to H D Skinner, Not sure how much longer I will be in the Islands before I am retired by the Service. When it happened I shall return to NZ to write up my comprehensive history of the Islands. Remembers finding artifacts on the marae of Ngari Kura. My wife put them aside as she is a descendant and did not like me taking them from scared ground. Articles are a old axe head of Pahua shell, some stone adze heads made on other islands, and a pearl shell scraper. Have compiled a dictionary of Rarotonga Maori. Waiting to see if the NZ government can afford to print it. comment about work of S P Smith.

We tried to get an earlier passage but all booked up, we will depart in December, Cheered Chamberlain's car in Cromwell Road.
