Suggests that the figure head is probably the work of a Taranaki carver and secured from Maori at Waikanae or Otaki. Regrets he will not be able to visit Scotland.

Mentions that the photograph of the fish-hooks and tiki is not clear enough for publication and requests another copy. Notes that the tiki is of 'exceptional interest.' Skinner reports that he has sent photo of the poi bowl to Drury Low in Mauke to secure notes for publication in the Journal of the Polynesian Society. Will send Maori exchange material in about 2 months.

Requests in exchange: a Cook Islands feather head-dress (Aitutaki); an Austral carved paddle; a small Austral ladle; an unlocalised adze; a New Ireland carving; a Hawaiian spear; and a Pitcairn adze.
