Letter, 18/07/1938, H D Skinner to The Hon Fred Waite MLC, Heenan has asked for assistance with printing a map of pre-European maori tracks. The most important track is the one up the Waitaki, Mantle made a diagrammatical plan in the 40's. McCully of Rangitata has been over it many times. Suggest the site of Moa Hunter camps are added.

You are the main source of information about tracks in Murihiku and the track leading up the Waitaki. Would you be willing to incorporate your material?

Letter, 22/02/1938, H D Skinner to Inga Washbourne, Thanks for "Digging up the Past" Just had 2 weeks tour over to West Wanganui and down as far as Patarua River 18 miles from Kai-Hoka. Many dug outs for whares, An old man sowed me heaps of axes and sharpening stones etc. You would love to dig there
