letter, 23/11/1933, Dr Benham to H Chapman, Registrar University of Otago, Repairs needed in the Biology Department as of late November 1933.

letter, 01/11/1933, H Chapman, Registrar University of Otago to Dr Benham, Placed letter from the 28th before the Finance Committee. Committee agree that Miss Fyfe be paid the fees of the students less 10%, Fees are based off of a charge of 1 pound/1 for each student. Committee says this may not be continued in 1934.

letter, 01/11/1933, Presumed Dr Benham to University Council, University of Otago, Application for an additional grant of 20 pounds for the session of 1932. Owing to the large class size of 122 in the first year and eight advance. Expenditure for animals to dissect has been higher, 70 pounds allocated to Biology department has been exceeded. Grant was 80 pounds in former years but was cut down to 70, number of students has been on the increase for the last two years. It is evident that the sum of 70 pounds is not enough to run the department on and suggest it be increased next year to 90 pounds

letter, 20/07/1933 to The Chairman, Library Committee, Request for the following book for the museum; Antiques, their restoration and preservation, published by Ed Arnold, 41 Maddox Street, London, W1. Suggests it be bought out of the Moritzon bequest which was originally given for the purchase of museum cases, but later allotted to the library. Asks the income of this fund be used for the buying and binding of books in the museum library, which houses books relating to the collection, as well as natural histories and anthropology. Don't recall the results of the application.

letter, 15/12/1932 to The Acting Registrar, Shed at the back of premises was broken into sometime between 5pm and the next morning on Tuesday, evident intention of only wanting to steal the live frogs, believes it to be the boys who the frogs were bought from, there was only three frogs. Had the stock of 500-1000 frogs been in the cages and set free or taken it would be a loss to the department and work seriously interfered with. Request for the fence to be raised to prevent further break ins. Suggests corrugated iron to be added to the top, will continue with barbed wire as a temporary in the meantime.

letter, 25/04/1933, H Chapman, Registrar University of Otago to Dr Benham, Regarding letter from the 29th, this has now been considered by the Works Committee. The Chairman and Architects have been given power to act regarding your request to have the water pipe carried into store room 5 and fitted with a tap and sink. Shelving has also been approved subject to the approval of the Chairman of the Committee of Management of the Museum, asks to advise if Mr. Fels approves, then action will be taken.

letter, 28/07/1954, H.D. Skinner to, Invitation to join the New Zealand and Polynesian branch of FEPA. Inaugural meeting at Dominion Museum August 27th

letter, 29/03/1933 to The Secretary, University Council, University of Otago, Two matters in need of attention, Biology Department wanting a pipe into storeroom 5 to be fitted with a tap and sink. Museum, asked to purchase timber shelving for store room 3 which was to be done by an unemployed man, he did not complete the work when he left for a permanent job. Asks that unemployed man named N. Brown to complete the work of erecting the shelves. Can offer three weeks of work for him, jobs needing done in the Ethnographic section by request of Mr. Skinner. If Council agrees the registrar should write to Mr. McDonald, Secretary of the Unemployment Board, and request that Norman Brown of Onslow Street, St Clair be released for digging up weeds for a period.

letter, 17/05/1933, M. Tucker to, Has a unique work made from Kauri Gum they're wanting to get rid of, thought you may be interested. It is in a glass case and was made 80? years ago. Enclosed is a picture (scanned) to give an idea of it, although it is not the best. There are three small chairs two are unfortunately hidden, one at the end of the couch and one between the two large chairs. The floor is made in square blocks of quite dark gum.

letter, 24/05/1933 to M Tucker, Interest in the photograph of the group of dolls furniture in the glass case. What price do you set on it? Outside the range of our exhibits but if the price is not too high we may consider as it is a work of art and craftsmanship. Asks for anymore information on its creator and history.

letter to, Particulars regarding various telephone systems. Annual rental of four point interphone system and one trunk line (central phone in Mr. Skinner's room, departmental phones on landing outside Dr. Benham's room, in lower corridor and in Hocken library) 26 pounds. Estimated cost not including line to Hocken is reduced by five pounds. 18 pounds. Continues to break down costs of further extensions and rentals. Included with it is a hand written note breaking down costs.
