Letter, 05/07/1938, Drury Low to H D Skinner, thank you for the letters, including one from Judge Ayson. Please send money for objects to my wife. Hope to get back soon and look through the Atiu caves.

Letter, 19/07/1938, H D Skinner to Eric Lowe, Christchurch, Would be pleased to receive bones of fossil whales or reptiles. Glad to give oriental arms in exchange. Dr W B Benham on staff at the museum undertaking special research into fossil whales and keen to secure bones. Need to say Canterbury Museum has first claim on all material found in the area. Please contact Mr Falla and gain his consent. note material must stay intact, do not want bones split between two museums.

Letter, 01/03/1937, David Teviotdale to H D Skinner, Notes and draft progress report on the excavation of the Moa Hunter site at the+F7741:F7763 mouth of the Tahakopa river. Description of bones and artifacts found in the various layers. Mention of Thomas Mackenzie report in the Otago daily times of Jan 30 1889 and April 2 1896. Sir Frederick Chapman. The Papatowai Scenic Board for permission. 329 objects of sufficient importance to be registered were found, Moa bones sent to Oliver.

Letter, 25/03/1938, H D Skinner to G H Macley, N Z Railways, John Mattson found a cache of Maori carpenter implements in the Hast. We made casts of the shank of a fish hook and a basalt gouge. I hear he sent the rest to you and we woould like to inspect them. McBride found a cache of of 10 adzes at the same place, we have 9 and the tenth was stolen from the Grahams at Waiho
