Letter, 07/09/1937, H D Skinner to Captain Black, trawler Hananui, Fish has been received, Professor Marples said it had not been seen in NZ waters before. Thinks seen elsewhere and seeking identification information.

Letter, 28/09/1937, H D Skinner to Captain Black, trawler Hananui, Professor Marples advises the fish is an unseal catch in NZ waters, only the 3rd recorded. It is a Orynotus bruniensis, and will be mounted and displayed in due course.

Letter, 21/06/1937, H D Skinner to Lady Boyd-Dawkins, Mentions his (Skinner) war experience in Gallipoli, and marrying wife. Met Sir William, who wrote on anthropology and mentioned you often. Can you influence the disposal of collection of Mr Beatson Blair and get some items esp European painting, sent to NZ . Making case for the Dunedin Art Gallery as recipient. Also asks for early stone or bronze age material for the museum. Passing on papers on maori amulets.

Letter, 04/07/1937, Lady Boyd-Dawkins to Captain Skinner, I was attending the British Speleological Association. I visited Mr and Mrs Cannington joint curators of the Devizes Museum They will provide a contribution, W Sayce of Manchester Museum is a friend and I will approach him for help, so is W Balch at Wells. This an opportunity for Beatson Blair to put his vast collection to good use.
