Complete wooden tatā (canoe bailer). There is a large curved handle with a simple manaia carved into the handle knob. Where the handle meets the bailer there is a large mouth carving. At the funnel end of the bailer there are two curved ridges. The walls of the bailer are high and straight. There are several cracks where the walls meet the base. Wood is stained dark red.

Complete paddle. Handle oval in section and expands gently to blade. Proximal end has a long, diamond cross-sectioned knob that comes to a point. Sides of blade widen near the distal end, and then taper approximately 70cm from the end. Blade has longitudinal central ridge on front and back.

Complete straight pounamu pendant. Mid-green with light brown chatoyant bands. Surface is ground. Cross section is square. Proximal end has a squared off projection, with a suspension hole drilled from one side. A sawing mark runs from below the suspension hole to one side, about halfway down. Distal end is slightly oblique, with a bevel demarcated by a line on one side, indicating that pendant may have been reworked from a chisel.

Complete patu onewa. Surface is ground and pecked. Butt has a knob on the proximal edge and sawn indentations on either side edge. Sawn indentations create shoulders on either side of the handle where it meets the blade. Blade edges are chipped and show signs of usewear.

Containers for cosmetics or trinkets (pointed pyxides). These containers were suspended by a cord threaded through the two holes in the lid and rim. 9th century BC.

Tankard. The decoration features horses and geometric designs. Late 8th century BC.

Cup (skyphos). Approximately 725 BC.

High-rimmed bowl. This shape first appears about 770 BC amongst pottery attributed to an artist now known as the Dipylon Painter, one of the great artists of this period. The decoration around the rim is not typical of the Dipylon workshop, and suggests another workshop had copied the shape. 750-720 BC

A fragment from a large funerary urn (pedestalled krater). Urns such as this were made to stand on graves. Funerals are usually depicted although battle scenes such as this also appear. Warriors carrying shields, swords and spears are shown in procession. The storklike birds, zigzags and dot-rosettes merely fill in space., Attributed to an artist now known as the Hirschfeld Painter.

Wine jar (amphora). One side depicts a family farewelling a warrior and the other side shows a boy learning to ride. Painted in a style similar to that attributed to an artist now known as the Princeton Painter. Approximately 550 BC.
