Rākau o te riri
Patu paraoa is incomplete with handle and butt missing. One side (underside) has exposed and distinct cancellous bone. The opposite side has vertical cracks, cut marks (on an angle) and chipping present over the surface of the blade. Chipping also present around the blades point edge.
Whakarite kai
Complete patu aruhe (fern root beater). Handle has a circular cross-section. End of handle is pointed. There is a shoulder between handle and beater end. Cross-section of beater end is lenticular, with one side more rounded. The distal end of the beater is blunt and flat. There are cracks on the flatter side of beater end.
