Broken patu paraoa, broken at the butt and at the blade edge. Surface is heavily worn. Tapered toward the handle.
Taoka whakarākei
Bone pendant, broken at distal end with a knob at proximal end.
Taoka Māori
Kekeno (fur seal) radius bone. The distal end is missing 35.6mm of one side.
Complete seal femur. No damage evident.
Complete patu paraoa. Perforations and some ornamental grooves on butt. Small pieces of blade have broken off.
Complete patu paraoa. The butt has a circular perforation. The patu is heavily worn and has glues keeping it together.
Complete patu paraoa. The handle has a circular perforation at the bottom. The butt is carved and has red wax and paua in the middle of the butt. The patu is in good condition.
complete, everything in place, no Tau. This object is in very good condition. It is covered in quite a few scratches. There is some chipping along the blade.
Complete patu paraoa. Surface is worked smooth. Shoulders where the blade meets the handle. Handle is relatively short. Flared and rounded at the butt, with a drilled perforation.
Complete patu paraoa. The handle has a circular perforation with ornamental grooves at the butt.
Complete patu paraoa. Surface has been stained green. Facial carving at the butt. Circular perforation at the top of the carved head as well as on the handle below the carving.
Complete patu paraoa. The butt of the Patu is missing a chunk of bone, the underside there is a large amount of bone missing from the edge and from the top of the blade. On the bottom edge blade of the Patu is serrated.
Complete patu paraoa. The butt has a circular perforation with lines carved below this. The patu has a portion missing from the butt and side of blade.
Mau rākau
Complete patu paraoa. Marked shoulders, small neck expanding to proximal knob. 7 flat ridges on each side of butt. Straight sided square shaped perforation. Large chip out of distal end, right side. Discoloured in patches.
Seal tooth, which has been filed smooth at the base of the root.
Complete ivory pendant. Slightly curved to a point at the distal end. Suspension hole and small notches at proximal end. Small piece broken off and glued back on at proximal end.
Animal tusk pendant. Complete but surface is worn.
Complete curved fishhook point. Manufactured from a canine jaw.
Broken curved fishhook point, lower portion remaining. Manufactured from canine jaw.
Broken fishhook tab, centre drilled out, external edges shaped. Manufactured from dog jaw, there are fragments of teeth remaining.
