Patu paraoa is incomplete with handle and butt missing. One side (underside) has exposed and distinct cancellous bone. The opposite side has vertical cracks, cut marks (on an angle) and chipping present over the surface of the blade. Chipping also present around the blades point edge.

Complete patu paraoa with drilled perforation on handle. Butt end has deteriorated slightly. The shape of the patu differs in that the handle is placed at the side of blade, as opposed to the middle. Patu is weathered showing porous like pattern over surface. Crack is present beginning from point end of blade running vertically up blade roughly at the centre. Underside of blade has discolouring/possibly staining.

Mostly complete patu paraoa; small part of butt not present. Drilled off-centre perforation at butt. Sawing mark running length of blade on one side. Cut mark and two indentations running along other side, one from butt to mid-blade and the other along the length of the blade.

Fragment of patu paraoa, part of blade remaining. Previously broken in two pieces and glued back together. Sawing marks present at one end.

Accession information states "Good speciman, with steel-drilled perforation." Spatulate in shape with neck sides slightly concave leading to slightly flare handle. Proximal end of handle lined with 4 broad ridges on each side. Small perforation below ridges - narrow diameter, sides straight, dulled from both sides. Discoloured on one side. Complete patu paraoa with cut out perforation on handle. Butt portion is curved with carved (reke) horizontal grooves. Circular/oval chip makings present over surface of the blade, with ingrained soil/dirt. Both sides of blade have heavy cut/scratch like markings over surface area also.

Broken curved fishhook point, mid-section remaining, broken at both ends. Burned bone. Manufactured from jaw.

Complete kotiate paraoa. Has hole grip with light leather strap, hole in handle is straight drilled but has been burred on both sides. Several minor splits and a section broken off side of rau/distal end blade and also small gouge on back of handle. Light brown in colour, double manaia on butt/proximal end.

Complete patu paraoa. Many visible repairs where previously broken, visible adhesive, some of which is coloured in and around the cracks. Ends of blade and butt worn and chipped. There is a perforation through the handle, sides of which are even and smooth. There are some curved grooves around the butt.

Complete harpoon head. There is a notched foot at the base. There is a visible repair on the foot where previously broken. One side of the shaft is grooved from the base the head. Both sides of the head are barbed, one larger than the other. There is a perforation through the head. Tip rounded.
