Taoka Māori
Broken slate file (kani) or polisher. Cross-section is square. Surface is ground. Two sides of the distal end are ground, and reduced down.
Complete slate knife. Surface is grounded on both sides. Cutting edge is sharp and curved. Haft is flat.
Broken slate knife, distal end remaining. Surface is ground on one side and bruised on the other. Cutting edge is sharp but chipped, with a bevel demarcated by a change in surface.

Broken worked piece of black slate, possibly a pendant with the distal end remaining. Tapers to a point at one end.

Kā taputapu
Fragment of worked slate. Surface has been ground smooth. Sawing mark at one end, with additional shallower cut marks on either side. Other end has been worked into a curved edge with a bevel on each side.
Mostly complete slate knife, part of haft is missing or sawn off. Cutting edge is sharp. Surface is ground and shows usewear. Very slight bevel is present at cutting edge and flaking is present at one lateral margin.
