Broken silcrete blade that has the proximal end remaining. It is dark brown in colour. There is heavy flaking on the ventral surface. A small section of the cortex is also present on the ventral surface.
Antiquities
Complete slate knife. Surface is grounded on one side and bruised on the other. Cutting edge is sharp and chipped, with bevel on both surfaces. Haft is flat.
Split silcrete blade, proper left lateral margin remaining. Bifacial retouch on lateral margin and on the distal edge.
Silcrete flake. There is retouch along one lateral margins.
Silcrete flake. There is some unifacial retouch on the ventral surface.
Silcrete flake. There is bifacial retouch on the proper left lateral margin and unifacial retouch on the ventral surface on the distal edge. Marker dots on the dorsal surface of the distal end.
Complete slate knife. Surface is grounded on both sides. Cutting edge is sharp and slightly curved, with bevel on one lateral margin on one surface. Haft is flat.
Complete silcrete blade. Light brown in colour. Flake scars present on dorsal surface, especially proper right lateral margin. Unifacial retouch present on both lateral margins on the dorsal side.
Broken silcrete blade, proximal portion remaining. White and light brown in colour. Evidence of unifacial retouch on the ventral surface of the blade on the right.
Broken silcrete blade, medial portion remaining. Mid brown in colour. Flake scars present on ventral surface. Bifacial retouch on both lateral margins.
Mostly complete silcrete blade, termination missing. Light brown and mid grey in colour. Flake scars present on dorsal surface and bruising on striking platform. Small area of cortex on the proper left lateral margin of the ventral side. Unifacial retouch also present on proper left lateral margin of ventral surface.
Mostly complete silcrete blade, termination not present. Light grey and light pink in colour. Unifacial retouch on both lateral margins on the dorsal surface.
Taoka Maori, Archaeology
Silcrete core that is mid grey and dark grey in colour. It has flake scars across the surface, a small hole and a small section of cortex on one side.
Silcrete core that is dark brown and cream in colour. There is no cortex present.
Silcrete core that is dark purple and dark grey in colour. There is one section of the cortex present on one side.
Incomplete adze. Trapezoidal, with back narrower than front. Surface is ground, with heavy chipping around edges and break. Butt not present. Bevel missing left side proper, cutting edge not present.
Broken silcrete blade, proximal end remaining. Light grey in colour. Bifacial retouch on both lateral margins.
Complete patu onewa. Notched knobs and shallow groove on top of butt. Drilled perforation. Ridge running along the centre of the length of the blade on both sides. Faint spirals on both sides of the blade. Two grooves on blunt blade edge.
Rectangular fragment of broken worked soapstone, possibly part of a bowl. Surface is ground on two sides and two edges. Sawing and cut marks are evident on the edges.
