Surface is ground on blade, and bruised with some flaking on butt. Major differentiation between butt and blade, with sides and front reduced forming shoulder. Bevel is demarcated by a line, cutting edge is sharp and curbed.

Complete rough-out. Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is mostly flaked. Proper right side is ground. No differentiation between butt and blade. Bevel and cutting edge unfinished.

Broken adze Cross-section is trapezoidal with front narrower than back. The surface is ground and has a chunk taken out of the proper left of the blade. There is flake scars on the butt. The butt is broken at the top and flaked all over. The bevel is demarcated by a small ridge. The cutting edge is sharp. There is a chunk taken out of the proper left on the blade.

Complete adze. Basalt. Black and light grey. Cross-section of lower blade is semi-circular, back flattened, becoming triangular towards upper blade with apex to front. Surface of blade is mostly ground, with some flaking, and bruising on butt. Major differentiation between butt and blade, front heavily reduced, small butt. Bevel is continuous with blade. Cutting edge is sharp and curved. Pounawea Isd. written on front.

Broken roughout. Basalt. Black. Cross-section is triangular with apex to front. Surface is flaked. Pounawea Isd written on apex.

Complete unfinished adze. Lenticular cross-section with the front flattened. The surface is mostly ground with flaking on the sides and poll. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The sides of the blade taper in from the cutting edge to the poll. The bevel is continuous with the blade but demarcated by a flake scar on the proper right. The cutting edge is straight and sharp.

Complete adze. Cross-section is asymmetrical. Surface is mostly flaked, ground on blade. No differentiation between butt and blade. Bevel is continuous with blade, blade is sharp and straight.

Complete unfinished adze. Asymmetrical triangular cross-section. The surface is ground, bruised and flaked. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The width of the blade is uniform from the cutting edge to the poll. The bevel is smooth and continuous with the blade. The cutting edge is straight and sharp.

Complete basalt adze. Cross-section is triangular on butt and upper blade, with apex to the top. Towards the distal end, the apex flattens making the cross-section trapezoidal, with the front narrower than the back. Major differentiation between butt and blade, front reduced forming small shoulder. Bevel is demarcated by a line, cutting edge is sharp and curved, slightly curved.

Complete adze Oval cross-section on the blade and butt. The surface is ground on the blade and bruised on the front of the butt. Flaked on the proper left. The side is reduced. The bevel is demarcated by a ridge. The cutting edge is sharp and has a few chips.

Broken adze. Cutting edge and blade present broken at poll end. Rectangular cross-section. The surface is ground and bruised. No differentiation between the butt and the blade. The bevel is demarcated by a faint curved line. The cutting edge is sharp, relatively straight and lightly chipped.

Basalt flake.

Complete adze. Cross-section of butt is oval, cross-section of blade is rectangular. Surface is largely bruised on the sides, and front of the butt. Surface ground on the front of the blade, back of the blade, and back of the butt. Flaking of the poll. Anterior shows no differentiation between butt and blade. Slight tapering of sides toward poll. Posterior shows major differentiation between butt and blade. Raised shoulders, and reduced sides. Cutting edge chipped, sharp, and slightly curved. Bevel is curved and demarcated by a slight curved line.

Large complete adze. Dark grey stone. Triangular cross-section. The surface is flaked and bruised.The butt is differentiated from the blade by a reduction in the stone on the front, making one distinct shoulder in the centre. The bevel is long and slightly curved, and demarcated by an irregular ridge on the blade. The cutting edge is narrow and blunt. The front of the bevel end of the blade is triangular, shaped by ridges either side. There is some red colouring on the front of the butt.

Complete roughout. Stone. Mid grey, light grey. Cross-section is trapezoidal, with back narrower than front. Surface is flaked. Undifferentiated between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Bevel is flaked, possibly unfinished, cutting edge is blunt and curved, possibly unfinished. Nuggets Bay. written on front.

Complete roughout. Stone. Dark grey. Cross-section is trapezoidal, with back narrower than front. Surface is flaked. Undifferentiated between butt and blade. Bevel is demarcated by a line. Cutting edge is sharp and straight, but unfinished. Otago written on front.

Complete Patu Onewa, with smooth finish to surfaces. Chips and wear apparent around edges and handle. Drilling of butt incomplete.

Complete adze. Basalt. Black. Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is ground, some flaking on front of butt. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, front slopes down towards poll. Bevel is continuous with blade, cutting edge sharp, very chipped.

Complete adze. Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is ground on the blade and bruised around the butt. Major differentiation between butt and blade, sides of butt reduced to form shoulders. Bevel is demarcated by a curved line. Cutting edge is curved and sharp.

Complete patu onewa, with no tau. Drill perforation present, Butt has ornamental grooves around the top and blade has moderate chipping around bottom edges. There is a large chip on side of blade, and minor scratches on front/back of blade.
